Cindy Lapoff’s practice focuses on all aspects of compliance related to the firm’s employee benefits fund clients. Ms. Lapoff’s office is located outside of Rochester, New York and she is affiliated with the firm’s New York City office. She has more than 20 years of experience providing advice on matters involving ERISA, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act, and the Internal Revenue Code. Ms. Lapoff advises on legal issues affecting plan sponsors, plan participants, and plan service providers. She also has represented employee benefit plans in Federal and State court as well as before several administrative agencies.
Prior to joining Slevin & Hart, P.C., Ms. Lapoff was a partner in the law firm of Trevett Cristo where she worked with a variety of multiemployer plans. Ms. Lapoff spent her earlier career practicing labor and employment law at Upstate New York firms.
Ms. Lapoff has presented educational programs to a variety of employee benefits organizations including the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. She is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Employee Benefits Committee.
Ms. Lapoff has written on a variety of employee benefit matters. She has also served as a Supplement Editor for the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law’s treatise, Employee Benefits Law. Ms. Lapoff is a former Trustee of the Monroe County Bar Association and she was named by The Daily Record as a Top Women in Law Honoree.
Ms. Lapoff is a member of the bar in New York and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. She is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges and cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law.
